You've brought a retired forester hope. Thank you, Tuscaloosa
Building Neighborhoods. Changing Lives. For decades, Curtis Edward Wells did some of the hardest work possible as a forester for a private company. But he still needed a place to call his own. Curtis has called McKenzie Court home for 34 years. And with Hope VI on the way, he can look forward to better living conditions and the true feeling of a neighborhood. At the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority, we're in the business of helping people like Curtis with housing, job training, and other support. As a result, we've helped countless people gain self-respect and self-reliance. And that's what's truly important, as long as you can see the forest for the trees.
After moving into public housing, she is now an entrepreneur, serves on the neighborhood council and devotes herself to the needs of others.
What do you see now?Patricia Booth runs a janitorial business. She is her only employee, but she aspires to bigger and better things. An example? When faced with foreclosure, Patricia wasn't about to give up. Instead, she came to the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority for a temporary place to live. Now, Patricia looks forward to growing her business and, ultimately having her own place to live again. And with Hope VI on its way, the people of Tuscaloosa can look forward to higher quality public housing, a place for community pride and a sense of belonging. And where people such as Patricia can enjoy a clean start in life.
You've brought a single mother hope. Thank you, Tuscaloosa
Building Neighborhoods. Changing Lives. You may know Myra Jones. She has served up plenty of good cheer to customers at the Brown Bag Restaurant over the past eight years. But, to us, she's a source of inspiration. When her husband left Myra with two children, she had no place to turn but us. Now, 11 years later, Myra has a place in the world. And with Hope VI on the way, she can look forward to an even better life. At the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority, we're helping people such as Myra Jones everyday with housing, job training, and other support. All so they have a reason to get up everyday, and take a place of respect in the community at large.
